Welcome to IGaeilge! The name was originally supposed to mean I Gaeilge (*in Irish*) but now it kind of looks like an Apple product. Oh well.
I'm your friendly neighborhood forum admin, with sub-par Irish skills.
Introduce yourself however you deem fit or feel comfortable!
Failte! (Welcome!)

Well, because I don't know how to speak Gaeilge, and this is in the beginners thread, I'm assuming I'm supposed to introduce myself in English.
Hello, My name is Jacob! I am 15 years old (I'll be 16 a few weeks), I live in Rhode Island, United States (So immersion in the Irish language has been/ will be challenging for me), I only speak English, however I love to learn languages, even though I can never stay with the same language for long. In the past, I have tried to learn multiple languages, like Spanish, French, Portuguese, Japanese, Turkish, Swedish, Norwegian, Esperanto, Danish, German, Dutch, even a little bit of Navajo and Mandarin Chinese - unfortunately, I can never stay interested in one language for a while. I've tried to learn Irish in the past but I lost interest, so It's been a while so I'm brushing up on my beginners skills and maybe if I keep doing what I'm doing (as in not lose interest, because Irish is so different for me, it's very had to get bored learning it) I can one day be fluent in Irish. Other than learning languages I like to learn about the weather, and I one day hope to be a Meteorologist. I'm very outgoing and I try my best to be a good person.
Well, that's all I have to say!

Well, that's all I have to say! Hey, no worries! My skills in Irish are beginner at best. This site it meant for us to learn together! I also live in the US (PA) so like I said, it's a group effort. The way I plan the site to work is even if it's all beginners and no mentors, then the beginners share what knowledge they have and acquire over time and help build each other up to where they can hold a conversation. Also whoo! New member As I said above, the site could work with all beginners. We'd need a lot though lacking any mentors, and will do better with some people with skill. I'm sure you see the forums are a tad empty right now. Hopefully as we get new members that will change and discussion in English and Irish will be more common.

Even though I guess I'm at a more intermediate level, I see the introduction thread is here. I'm lazy enough today to use all English (I'll definitely use more Irish in the future here), so hello! My name's Kaylan, I'm 17 years old, and from Canada. I've been learning Irish since February, 2015 - although there have been many months I've done nothing with the language due to school. I get a lot of reading practice and somewhat listening skills, but not so much for speaking and writing, so I'm weak in the latter two. Jacob, I know how you feel with trying to learn other languages in the past and losing interest. When I was younger I tried a few and lost interest in a week. Don't ask me how that changed, sort of just did. Not it's hard for me to put down a language :S Eh, I'm not very good at introducing myself, so I hope that's sufficient. Nice to meet you guys, anywho. I'll try to spread the word of the forum

Heh, mine was less interesting than that I'm sure Thanks for volunteering to spread the word If we get more members maybe this will work as I planned. I see how you mentioned about the introduction thread. I didn't consider making several threads for the different skill levels, but I certainly could and will do so, it's a good idea! If you want to reintroduce yourself in Intermediate Irish feel free

Dia Daoibh! Melia is ainm dom.
Hi! my name is Melia. I am almost 18 and from the US. I am a beginner in the Irish language. I started out learning Gaeilge with Duolingo for around 3 weeks. I am learning so I can reconnect with my blood from my Mother's side.
I have also known the feeling of starting a language and never really reaching your goals. I have taken Japanese for a few years and am only able to comprehend the most basic of conversation. But, I hope to become fluent in Irish with some hard work and persistence.
Irish is such a beautiful language, and this forum is so cool, I hope that together we will improve together.
